Soweto
Two bands playing in Soweto.
A melaleuca tree planted by Nelson Mandela, who was apparently quite a keen gardener:
Informal shanties and government "box" housing in the next few photos. New arrivals usually construct shanties; when they move into government housing they can rent out the shacks to newcomers.

I have to say, it looks a lot nicer than I imagined. Cool place to visit, are there retail outlets and such?

Yes, it has quite a large town centre; even a gym. It seems to have received more attention from the authorities than many of the "townships".
