Madeiran furcraea update.
We were lucky enough to visit Madeira a few weeks back and went to snap some pics of the huge Furcraea on the local park. I am guessing it has flowered looking at what is happening now did we actually agree to it being a Furcraea or a Yucca?

I'm betting Yucca. A few in Mexico can look like that. I guess the commonest is Y.filifera. Fast growing. That might only be 30 years old or so.

Re: Madeiran furcraea update.
Gerald Luckhurst sent me some pics of this flowering a couple of years back - pendulous stalks of creamy white bells. So definitely a yucca, most likely Y. filifera, growing uncharacteristically soft and lanky in the balmy Funchal climate.

The grassy tree's can be tricky to figure out from a distance. Culture and climate..This Cordy in San Jose must have been beheaded and came back with this strange sprouting all up and down a single trunk. It has Beaucarnea with some Nolina look to it. https://www.google.com/maps/@37.32712,- ... 312!8i6656

Furcarea selloa in Madeira. A teeny bit of foreshortening as this woman was slightly further on than the plant, but it is massive. I prefer the plain species to the variegated cultivar but you rarely see them.
