into Western Cape
This is reputed to be the highest bungee jump in the world at Bloukrans Bridge:
This interesting narrow inlet leads into a wide shallow bay at Knysna:
This was a scenic lookout ( "viewpoint" as they say there) along the coast. The sign warns of it being a mugging area. It was below road level and couldn't be seen from the road. OTOH you would need a car to get there, I think:
Next we crossed the Outeniqua Pass into the drier inland:
The road workers over there wave these flags enthusiastically.
A flowering bush I don't remember taking:
Birds along the way:

Re: into Western Cape
Thanks for posting this continuing story.
I can seldom think of anything sensible to post on such an interesting thread where I know nothing, and posting 'thanks' looks a bit lame!
On this occasion I can contribute!
I think the flowering bush you don't remember taking is the inflated seed capsules of Nymania capensis.
Please carry on posting.
Chad.

Re: into Western Cape
Spot on with the name Chad! Nymania capensis. Phil, there is some really interesting flora around the Knysna heads, Erica's, Gasteria, Crassula and even a few orchids.
Spotted Sparmannia africana at the Bloukrantz Bridge years ago.
A really rich area.
The Outeniqua pass outside of George has lots of various Erica and Protea species.
