Fern or fern like,or grows with ferns...
Not all I have that fits in the category..but the bigger players. Cyathea medullaris that was down to 4 fronds in October..grew all winter.
Platycerium bifurcatum in Podocarpus gracilor tree. All the rains made it a deep green.
Asplenium bulbiferum. After being dug up and potted up last summer- I'm going for large 3' and more fronds this year. Roots should be established.
White rabbits foot fern,Davalia tyermanii. On rotting landscape log.
Platycerium superbum and trunking Asplenium nidus. It has about, a good 16" of thick trunk.
Another angle of C.medullaris.
Ficus benjamina with spore grown ( on its own) Adiantum hispidum.
Broms and epi's and Ripsalis
Hyperzia squarrosa..actively growing. It only took 12 years to look like this from a cutting I grew myself. With Psuedodrynaria coronans.
Oxalis..
Mexican tree fern in 20 gallon pot. I had just watered, otherwise it has golden hairs.
Thanks!

You have some lovely stuff Stan. It all looks luxurious. Not being a fern expert, what is the drooping feathery plant in the third from last photo in the hanging pot? I love that very much. Martin

That looks good Stan, your medullaris now coming up soon, a few years and you walk underneath it Here he still sleeps in his tent. Eduard.

Re: Fern or fern like,or grows with ferns...
Thanks guys. Cyathea medullaris..as it trunks the water need goes way up. I have a smaller in ground plant that always looks good. I expect as it trunks it might need a near constant watering in summer. Even daily doesn't seem enough. It might be the Podocarpus trees don't help..but still, the other in ground plants seem to do well on average water. Martin, that's the Rock Tassel,Hyperzia squarrosum. If this is the hardiest and fastest growing of the subtropical Hyperzia's? Then,I stop here Well,if I saw a good deal on other species.. Never say never with trying plants. As far as the Huperzia? I rooted that as a4" cutting when I had access to a tropical greenhouse and misters. It took about 4 months to root. Without all that? I have heard it can take a year for them to take root,IF they do. Since then,I see them on the internet for sale. I think they are bargains if you get a rooted plant off and growing for the prices I've seen. Do it yourself with these is very difficult. I wish Steve was here to comment that this type of plant might be easier to grow from spores then unrooted cuttings. You need much time.

Fantastic Stan. Looking at your P. bifurcatum, and especially P. superbum, makes me homesick for 2010 when my plants were in their full glory. Nice job with the C. medullaris and Huperzia too. I bet you water these guys daily in the summer months.

Just about Tom. And why they are relegated to the last refuge of shady jungle biotype! I have been consolidating and condensing that type of plant for a few years now. I keep edgeing it with more dry tolerant plants as the water needy die off here and there. Not many plants like dry shade. Hardest landscape to do.

Martin I was looking at one of the chain Crassula's that I was given. I can see if a few are planted in a hanging pot- it would look very much like a dwarf Huperzia. Winters indoors should be easy for that all green plant. I'm thinking of mounting it on a tree. Its a little small..would have to be low to be seen.

Re: Fern or fern like,or grows with ferns...
Stan my Huperzia arrived. I planted it in a mixture of sphagnum moss and coarse orchid compost. I read that air pockets in the growing medium promote root growth and lack of rot. I can't find much info about how much watering it requires. is it one of those plants you never allow to totally dry out? I hope I can keep it growing as I really like it.

No,dont let it dry out. When that happens the tips brown. Catch it in time and they might branch from that. They like a good hosing down in summer too. You can see the way they hold large droplets on those tips..these are water loving plants.

Good luck Martin...these and related could be nice to grow under Gro lights in winter. A collection of these gracefull plants and some are blue, would be nice to sit by in a home. Worth the effort.
