Japan Grand Prix International Orchid Festival
OK, not exactly "edgy" stuff, but definitely exotic. This show was about a month ago and well worth the trip.

"Exotic" is an understatement Tom! I have never seen such a magnificent display of plants. It must be almost overwhelming to the senses to actually be there. Really enjoyed it, thanks. Martin

Re: Japan Grand Prix International Orchid Festival
Tom- loved the 4HD and show. This is the Stan International Porch Orchid Show. My Masdevallia is in bloom. I had 3,one almost died (too dry one summer- I'm not perfect) and the other just disappeared one day. btw- All the years I posted Rock Orchids never seemed to have much of a scent- if any? I take it all back. Get them clumping happy and I just open the front door to the porch and go out..and its Orchid flavor all around. I guess my previous blooms were of a plant not quite 100% happy. That same plant is downright giddy today!

Thanks Martin and Stan. It is quite a thing to see in person. Almost overload.
Stan, nice job on growing and flowering that Masdevallia. I cannot keep them going here during our impossible summers. Interestingly, this genus was almost nowhere to be seen at the Tokyo show, just an odd one here and there. Other shows I've seen literally hundreds of them. Go figure.

Very envious of the orchid shows you can get to see over your way Tom those displays were huge I have never seen so many flowering orchids in one place.
Did they have a sales area as that would be a scary prospect? The orchids that caught Jackie and myself eyes were 17, 18 and 33 beautiful flowers. Dendrobium chrysopterum "Takaya", D.leucocyanum "Lovely Dream" and Cattleya Poor Paul "Blue Heaven" Many thanks for posting your link here much appreciated. This is our orchid show a third time flowering of these pair

Thanks Kev. Your "orchid show" is better than mine so far. Very few flowering yet. The Den. leucocyanum in person was other worldly. Rarely do you see a flower that color. Tons of vendors there from Asia, America and South America. Remarkably, I bought nothing, though I was tempted.
There are a lot of orchid shows in Japan, in fact I went to a local one a week after the Grand Prix, and yes, I made a video of that too:
