The National Botanic Garden of Wales
Just a few shots of the located in Wales.
I will first start with the tropical butterfly house where temperatures are kept at 28c and then move onto the large glass house afterwards.
Crinum asiaticum I assumed
Alocasia portodora was massive
The Phoenix roebelleni and Howea were pristine I asked the lady what they do with them when they get to big "we just cut them down and they resprout from the base" was the reply....I did not argue as she was a nice lady....lol
The unassuming entrance to 'the largest single-span greenhouse in the world'
I must admit once inside it was a very impressive structure
Crythanthus falcatus
The proteaceae family seemed to be the flowers of the moment
There is always someone who walks into shot when you are taking a photo....lol
The Echiums were loving it
This one looked a bit tatty but one I have not seen before E.simplex
Wachendorfia were just coming into flower mine, which I assumed would not be hardy way up north here, are only just showing above ground but will flower around August.
Did not spot the name of the next two plants
Kangaroo paws in full flower
Calothamus quadrfidus
Jackie spots a X.glauca
Banksia coccinea an absolute star of a flower.
Alogyne huegelii
I assumed this was an Helichrysum
WOW what a walkway with a rather nice vine growing over it.
Hardenbergia violacea
A few Puya some flowering
Puya venusta in the blue corner P.chilensis in the green corner
Jubaea chilensis not ideally placed either maybe just cut it down when it gets bigger and it will re-shoot from the ground
Well it is Wales where you need a coat for all seasons
Puya berteroniana just coming into flower love the turquoise flowers
Nice colour combination with this Tropaleum
This plant was dropping seeds all over the floor
Barnadesia caryophylla
Another stunning Banksia .......B.baureii
Dudleya anthonii
Great habit on this Bansia blechnifolia it would look good on the stones at Tremenheere
Tea and cake and a local band took to the small stage the acoustics were marvelous
The fungi with the fun guy
Strangely I quite liked this unassuming plant which on closer observation was flowering
Hypocalymma angustifoloium
Sorry missed the label here
500 acres outside so plenty of room for further develpement
