Tasmania and Victoria
You can take a car ferry across Bass Strait but parking is somewhat tight.
Some photos of Dicksonia antarctica in northern Tassie, along with some scenic shots:
the harbour at Devonport
returning to Victoria, I visited the Dandenong Ranges where C. australis and D. antartica were equally common ( unlike Tassie ):
Eucalyptus obliqua
E. regnans
Other huge eucs, perhaps E. viminalis or E. cypellocarpa

Re: Tasmania and Victoria
Thanks for those Phil.
My wife and I watched "The Kettering Incident" recently and that was filmed down in Tasmania.
It felt like a "down under" X Files set amongst some amazing trees, ferns and landscape!

Re: Tasmania and Victoria
What stunning places. My nan always used to harp on about the Dandenongs. Now I see what she means.

Re: Tasmania and Victoria
Great photos! I'm nobody's nan but I'm going to be harping on about the Dandenongs for a while, too. They are less geographically impressive than the Blue Mountains for sure, but the area has a certain memorable "Je ne sais quoi". I think the misty, drizzly, changeable weather I had might have contributed. Or maybe just because my ground trip officially started with a drive to Olinda, I came the closest to experiencing a sort of horticultural Stendhal syndrome there haha.

Re: Tasmania and Victoria
That was largely because of the rhodos I'm guessing. I didn't have time to visit the Rhododendron Gardens. Annoyingly, I couldn't see any view from Mt Dandenong because of persistent fog and smoke haze.

Re: Tasmania and Victoria
Great photos Phil. Seeing them in habitat is inspiring. Makes me try harder. Anybody know the fern on the DA in photo .023?
