Does it count as an epiphyte if it's on a tree fern trunk?

Does it count as an epiphyte if it's on a tree fern trunk?
I just discovered an Aquilegia seedling growing in the crown of my 7ft Dicksonia antarctica and it just set me thinking of all the times I've seen non-epiphytes growing as epiphytes on tree ferns.
I remember once coming across some rather ratty-looking (probably mislabled) D. fibrosa stashed away in a dingy corner of a nursery (who shall remain anonymous) with a bramble actually fruiting in one of the trunks! I've also seen quite a few common British weeds on tree ferns including dandelions, purple oxalis, sow thistle, even buddleja!
What's the best/weirdest thing you've seen growing as an epiphyte on a tree fern?
Thinking I might leave the Aquilegia and see what happens. What do you think? Personally, I'm predicting death by drought before it forms a good tap root.

Not a tree fern- but a basket of Tllandsia punctulata with a several year old Geranium maderense.

I would not be surprised if the Aquilegia makes it to flowering they are persistent plants. Again not a fern but I have 3 foxgloves growing in the trunk of my Brahea armata Stan is it Madrense or Palmatum which grows anywhere here at our place

Not a tree fern...........but I have a Sycamore seedling growing in the crown of a 4 metre high Trachycarpus. Seems only right a Sycamore should germinate up there, they grow EVERYWHERE else, so why not there.
