My wife took this picture of GBOP growing in Tauranga last time we were there. Anyone planting this in their backyards should beware of potential space constraints...

Wow- that's a whopper of a plant. I don't know if we have one that combines that height with the mass. Interesting too, that is on the beach? Or is that a Bay? Here,we have some tall ones near Lake Merrite, a salty lake.- bordering SF Bay in Oakland.

I see Shaving brush palms looking very green in the background. Hard to top all year watering from nature with mans adjunct watering too.

Hayward and Tauranga have very similar temps...winters are near identical. Only..we get those aggravating one or two night dips to freezing that makes a mess of things.

Yes, Stan, the climate here is almost exactly the same, too. Apart from the days when it isn't. :D
