Agave atrovirens, Alexander. Not that hardy and gets very big - not a great combination! OK in the far southwest of UK.

This one has been in the ground for 5 years, fast growing for an Agave!

Phil is that a Trithrinax you still have alive in the background?

That is a lovely Agave. You must live in a mild part of the Country. A lot of Aloes as well.

Hi Kev, yes the Trithrinax is surviving but not really thriving. It was badly damaged with the cold snaps 5 or 6 years back and hasn't really recovered.
Im in Portsmouth, so relatively mild. It's a raised bed built on brick rubble so very free draining. There's a big clump of Aloe striatula that if I'm honest is a bit of a weed but I like the flowers. I have aristata and simsii elsewhere in the garden.
I've thinned out the Agave collection and tried to focus on what I can grow outdoors - dasyiliriodes, parryi, celsii, macroculmis, montana, atrovirens, filifera, garcia-mendosae, striata/stricta, a few others. I don't really put as much time into it as I used to. Not enough hours in the day!
