Tender Hibiscus took all summer to recover.
These extra jumbo H.r. sinensis type plants are more tropical,or at least more tender then the ones you find at most home improvement stores or even markets. This one did great from last spring all through fall in a pot. Then the record wet winter along with a deep late December drop to about freezing. It didn't look good right away. What I never expected if it lived, was to comeback and bloom so late as September. If,it was planted in ground it would have been possibly a different story. I've grown a few Hibiscus in pots over the years and these are more fussy then the others. Sort of a warning if you leave plants out as late as possible in the year. I also don't see these "Mandalay Bay" and types as one you can cut back hard and overwinter like with regular Hibiscus rosa sinensis.
So,you might give them a try as they come in a riot of colors that the older types don't..mixed colors and some like metallic. But...
