Not really had a frost yet Kev. The weather test is that my fuchsias are still in flower. Tonight all that could change.

Re: Cold weather in the UK
In London, we had one night at 0ºC last week. I took a few things in and chucked sheets over others, but it wasn't really necessary: Brugmansia 'Charles Grimaldi', which is very tender, showed no leaf damage and is still flowering. Tonight will also be about 0ºC or briefly -1ºC, but I'll just use the sheets again: on Begonia luxurians and some evergreen Hedychium, just to keep the top growth looking nice.
I've taken in a number of succulents to keep the rain off them, but the only plants indooras because of cold are a pair of Schefflera actinophylla (seed supplied by Josh76 a few years ago), Aeonium 'Velour' (cutting from Michael (SW Ireland)), Kumara plicatilis, Syagrus romanzoffianum and my permanently chlorotic Phoenix roebelenii.

Re: Cold weather in the UK
Very weird. My digital thermometer reads -1.5C currently but it feels much colder. The sky is crystal clear from the polar air and breath out through ones mouth and the air just steams up so to speak. I have no snow here as well. Good job the Butyagrus I am getting is still in Spain. I've only found one website that predicts a minimum of -3C on Tuesday which really is a joke considering the weather pattern set up

Re: Cold weather in the UK
Friday night has been ok with -0.2c I can live with that. Nice one Ben its interesting to hear of temps around the world, at one given time, 30c is fine but you do need rain to damp it down a touch how are your reservoirs looking? Andy clear skies last night and this morning and no cold to speak of....fingers crossed!

Re: Cold weather in the UK
Looks like Oxford will be in the middle of the snow event tomorrow mornining. http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/arome.p ... =142&map=0. Gabor is right, last year Hungary was hit hard by the cold weather. I remember seeing videos of Lake Balaton freezing over. There is constant blocking over Greenland allowing the cold pool to develop to the north of the UK. The cold fanatics on the weather forums are now pointing to a Scandi high later on in December which could lead us to a !987 type Winter. Where are the South Westerlies when you need them. Oh and gale force winds forecast for the south tomorrow also
