Hi Kev,
Hope the snow doesn't cause damage. Looks very beautiful though!
I especially like the Wollemi (I hope that is it). How tall is your tree now? Has it dealt with snow before?
Thanks!

Hi Ted yes that is my Wollemia its about 12ft tall now.
Its quite clever really as it develops waxy coats over the new buds so no protection needed on the previous snowy winters it maybe tested tonight if -12c arrives.....hope not!

Exotics in the snow do look very pretty.

What was your overnight minimum Kev?

Looks like I might have got away with it reading other people's double digit minuses, posted elsewhere, we "only" dropped to -5.5c Adam our coldest night since 2010 it may test some of my plants though

A few flakes of snow and the UK grinds to a halt. We've been spoilt the last few years. AdamD probably has his lycra cycle shorts outside laughing. Whimp!

-5.5ºC is already pretty! Kev Do you have any damage to your plants / tree ferns?

Eduard.

I see you are risking your Euphorbia sty. SM Kev. I have covered mine. We got down to -10.

The top of the Wrekin hill where I live was knee deep and that was on the first and lesser day of snow.
Had a mad rush getting plants covered. My Wollemi pine was killed down to ground level in 2010 but regrew and by the time I left the house earlier this year there were 3 eight foot trunks. My wife has bought me a new one for the new front garden so that was covered three nights ago with fleece.

Sorry for all the havoc, snow is creating on your gardens.
To keep my plants on the dry side, against winds and free from frosts, I use this:

Image

I use trestles and plastic stapled to the wood. For high winds I drive them into the ground using pegs.

Image

And when the plant grows taller, I hammer wooden sticks.

I hope it is of use to you.
