Hi. I haven’t posted here for well over a year. Lost my plant mojo for a while, particularly since Steve’s passing but I’ve been getting fired up again recently and thought I would post a few pics of my maturing garden now it’s summer here in Auckland. My back garden is on 1:1 slope that heads down towards a stream at the bottom. Here it is 2 years ago when I started making a staircase down. October 2015 and the steps are in and a few tree ferns starting to go in. At this time the MIL referred to it as a scar on the landscape! Here it is now. Maturing nicely. |

It has a nice Gondwanan character. |

Trying to keep that native feel Phil. Probably goes without saying that the native plants establish quicker and can tolerate drought, including the tree ferns. |

Wow! Mark, what a paradise! Great job! How big is your property? Is it in a suburb of Auckland? Almost feel like jumping on a plane and bidding on a house in NZ! |

Thanks guys. I live in Auckland Ted, in a suburb on the east coast called Cockle Bay. My place is about 100 metres in a straight line from the beach but a good 40 metres elevated too and my section which is 840 sq/m drops down on the rear side. Still got some more planting to do but it’s definitely starting to pay back some of the hard work. Metrosideros excelsa out in flower now |

Hi Mark! Thanks for the new photos! Really interested in the Blechnum cycadifolium. I will be getting one in 2018. How old is your specimen? I understand that it prefers cool summers. Thanks! |

Hi Mark, I think this is a C.dealbata, do you have it in full sun? if so then it does it very well, beautiful growth Always have my plant out of the sun or 40% but no afternoon sun, here it can become very hot in the summer to 37ºC then I see a lot of scorching! Eduard. |
