outback trip 6
Barkly roadhouse, still in the Northern Territory but on the way to Queensland
border
Mt Isa mines, one of the world's richest copper, lead and zinc mines
A green-looking artificial lake near Mt Isa. There were a couple of boats out, though why anyone would want to be on this unattractive lake in stifling high 30s temperatures I don't know. Perhaps it is stocked with fish.
The highway between Mt Isa and Cloncurry is one of Australia's most scenic.
At last we arrived in Townsville
I visited the Townsville Palmetum where I took quite a few pictures. They are situated on the Ross River
The start of my palm photos:

Re: outback trip 6
Thanks for the photo's Phil. Really surprised to see tropical Townsville to be full of high rise flats/apartments. Rather detracts from the beauty of the area. Presumably everyone wants to live there?
