the Burdekin Crossing. The Burdekin River is a major east coast river that reaches the sea just south of Townsville

The other huge east coast river is the Fitzroy, seen here at Rockhampton

The second last night of the trip was at a coastal suburb of Bundaberg called Bargara.
I was interested to see Norfolk Island pines as well as coconuts and pandanus along the shore. These trees are ubiquitous along the southern half of the AU coast but are never seen in the tropics. I have always been curious how far north they are planted.
I still don't know the answer to thsi question but they are at Bundaberg. They look a bit battered; maybe past cyclones?

So that was my outback trip; I hope you enjoyed it.
I'll leave with you with a photo of Brisbane city from my motel.

Phil... thanks for the effort in showing all your photos. Rarely get to see pics of the Tropical north of Australia so thanks very much. Will get the chance one day to go on a long trip to Oz when my wife retires and the east coast will be in my itinerary. :D
