the northermost Syagrus on this planet is blooming. It took 20 years to do! All the pics except the first one were taken today. EDIT I forgot to add that it is growing in the city of Brest! |

That's outstanding, Yves. Thanks for sharing. I don't recall ever seeing a Syagrus in France (and I'm from the south of France) so it's quite amazing to see one in Brest. |

Hi Romain, I know at least one in Biarritz, and they are quite common on the french riviera between Nice and Menton especially since all the Phœnix are killed by the red palm weevil. The cities replace them by Syagrus as they seem immune, well not for long. |

Salut: Good achievement there! You are at 48ºN latitude, right? What´s you climate like? I mean, min. max. temp. sunshine hours, warmest ever, coldest ever, rainfall, etc. Is this reliable? http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/weat ... est-France Au revoir. |

Looks great. Actually the green droopy fronds look more like in habitat then they do here in California. |

Hi, Ives: 9b, with 10a spots? pretty much like it here! It´s amazing to see those palms growing that far north! Do you know that "Fous de palmier" forum member living in Concarneau, who has got an astonishing garden? Could you tell us what he and you all can grow up there? Do you know of any fruiting Syagrus, Archontophoenix or Howea along the Atlantic coast of France? I assume they do in Cote d´azur, don´t they? Those avocados are bigger than mine. Why don´t you try Guavas? (Psidium guajava). Mine are not very big this year. |
