Post PayPal Donation Button - UPDATED Nov 2016
Growing on the Edge has been running for around 30 months now. The hosting fee for the main site is due for renewal, as is the fee for the gallery webspace. We also had to carry out an upgrade to the phpBB software, as we were running an obsolete version of phpBB, which had no support from the phpBB team if anything were to fail. We have had to pay someone to do the upgrade, as we do not have a dedicated member with web skills on the team.

Up to now, these costs have paid by the moderation team, initially by Peter Richardson, then by the four current moderators, with the assistance of a contribution from the old UK Oasis forum. That money has run out and now there is a fair bit more money to find - more than we wish to share between the four of us.

Now that the forum software has been upgraded to the latest format, we are going to install a Paypal donation button on the site. Should any of you enjoy the site so much that you feel the urge to part with some money, a donation would be much appreciated.

We do not intend to have a lot of money left over, so when and if we reach our target we will let members know, so its not over-subscribed.........we say in hope more than in expectation...

Thanks to you all in advance. If you don't want to make a financial contribution, don't let it stop you using the forum - it's entirely voluntary.

Post Re: PayPal Donation Button
You'll see that the PayPal donation button has now magically appeared on the site in various surprising locations, thanks to the wonders of HTML and the skills of one of our moderators.

Anyone who feels so moved is welcome to help us with the running costs of the site.

Anyone who does not feel so moved should continue to participate, free of guilt.

Thank you in advance.

Post Re: PayPal Donation Button - cap in hand time again
Another two years have flown past and it's suddenly time to pay out for another two years of hosting fees.

It's not enough to send us out selling off our plants to keep the forum alive, but it is enough to provoke this reminder that anyone who is feeling flush at present (yes, I know) is welcome to help out with a small donation to help keep the site running, using the PayPal donation buttons that are strategically distributed about the forum.

Just to reiterate what we said last time: if you don't want to make a financial contribution, don't let it stop you using the forum - it's entirely voluntary.

Thanks to everyone, not just for any donations, but also for the input that makes the site what it is.

Post Re: PayPal Donation Button - UPDATED Nov 2013
Hello everyone.

We've just had to pay out the web hosting and domain renewal fees and, by paying for the next 3 years in advance, were able to knock the annual rate down substantially.

As a result, we've used up the credit balance from everyone's generous donations in the past and are a bit out of pocket. So if anyone is in a generous mood, a few quid/bucks/euro/yen/yuan/roubles can be winged in our direction using the conspicuous PayPal 'Donate' button on the main page.

Many thanks in advance and we hope you enjoy the forum.

Post Re: PayPal Donation Button - UPDATED Nov 2016
Three years later, the hosting fee is expiring again and the costs have risen substantially. In part, this is because of the dollar/pound exchange rate, but mainly it's just because hosting fees have increased generally. The overall effect is that the cost of hosting the site has nearly trebled.

If we can afford to pay for 3 years again, we will, but presently we have insufficient credit balance to pay for 1 year.

We are also well overdue for a software upgrade.

Therefore, we have to break out the begging bowl again and ask if people can help us keep the site running with donations. The PayPal donations button is right where it always is, at the bottom of the "Board Index" page, so if you are feeling so inclined, please click...

Many thanks in advance and we hope you enjoy the forum.

I don't want to twist people's arms, but I'm afraid we still don't have nearly enough money in the account to cover even one more year of hosting fees.

Profuse thanks to those who have contributed.

If any other members would like to throw a few pounds/dollars/euros/whatever in the pot, it would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance...

David
