Old growth Rainforest and caves in far south east Tasmania
On Australia day Jan 26th we went down to Hastings caves national park area . The walk to the caves was through rich rainforest with many ferns ,including Dicksonia antarctica , cyathea australis , Microsorium diversifolium (kangaroo fern ) Blechnum nudum,Todea barbara to name a few.

next to a er well bigger than average tree .

Just 'WOW' really. Fantastic. My local park isn't much like that.
What should we be seeing in the water? And do those little wallaby things just sit there and let you take their picture?

Hi Paul
It's a national park on the edge of a vast wilderness area . The water picture was just an arty shot . The Walaby was only about 3 m away when i took the picture .

Thats Anopterus glandulosus - native laurel. A beautiful little rainforest tree or big shrub with showy white flowers and big glossy leaves. Frost hardy too, would be a good candidate for mild parts of the UK I reckon.
