Aloe speciosa
Getting ready to open its buds again. I think the longest spike is probably close to 20 inches long.

Good to hear that you are enjoying your garden again, David. I don't think that Aloe plicatilis will tolerate much below -2, but it would do well as a container plant brought in on the coldest nights. Have you tried Aloe maculata on your roof? It's one of the hardiest Aloes, and would colour up well in summer with the relatively shallow substrate.

Very unusual flowers Ron, and a great photo. Looks like Aloe speciosa is another one I'll have to get hold of. My Aloe alooides has just opened it's first flowers, ferox and x salmdyckiana are not far behind.
