Oakland Palms part 1..
Some changes at the Palmetum..the big Caryota uhrens are gone. I was in a hurry- so I was taking pics fast as I had to leave in half an hour, but I think the Juania were also gone. Even the stunted but still nice Cyathea medullaris was missing. On the other hand, the Bangalows are gigantic and so are the mountain palms, both in the 30-35' range, or more? Some giant sized Chamedorea's. Many had bamboo like trunks. Tallest I ever grew were in the 6' range, and the Palmetums 15-20' just dwarf those shrimps! Ironic that you can see the very tall queen in my Ficus picture, but at the Palmetum they so stunted, its not worth a photo. If you want a Foxtail palm, stunt a Queen palm. Otherwise the garden is fantastic, not reproducable and you only wish they could plant more. I only saw some young Bangalows as new additions. The deciduous tree is a Chorisia.
