Cyathea intermedia - to be or not to be?
Aggghhh! I never like posting in this thread - what have you done to the formatting???
Anyway... has there been any resolution to the 'intermedia' question? A while back, I queried whether the various photos really showed any kind of Cyathea at all - I couldn't see typical Sphaeropteris characteristics in the images, just woody stipe bases and silver hairs more indicative of an alien that had contaminated the spore sample. Any developments since we last discussed this ID question?

Re: Raising tree ferns from spores
Hi The pictures of twooba are very large, this is standard size and I have no problem with placing! However with photobucket after 3 post pictures I get error message and I can start again, it will cost me endless time If it is going to place some pictures as now it works, can do that and have your normal size? These are pictures of C.intermedia a week ago and latest crozier, Gr. Eduard.

Re: Raising tree ferns from spores
Intermedia is a classic blonde Sphaeropteris - yours looks too dark to me. I've never been convinced that one was the correct ID.

That size is fine Eduard. Anything over 800 pixels wide is pushing it as far as I'm concerned.
Can we see a shot of the crown/trunk area as well? That plant has the feel of an Alsophila type.

Re: Raising tree ferns from spores
Yes Steve, I know your point to this species, but that did not convince me, I wait until the fall, the plant constand changed, we will see! When I look at the color of the stipe sees hopeful
Tom, thanks for the photo size info There are many detailed pictures on page 2 and if you click on the photobucket you can zoom it [very large]
Gr. Eduard.

Re: Raising tree ferns from spores
OK, I take it back looking at those last shots - definitely a Sphaeropteris type. Looking very healthy regardless, but I wonder what you will do once it decides to really grow!

Exquisite pictures Eduard I especially like your Dicksonia blumei that looks fabulous I have a Dicksonia berteriana which looks like a poor relation when compared with those red scales on your fern.....

Re: Raising tree ferns from spores
In the autumn leaves broke and the plant becomes unstable, which now begins to recover,
Gr. Eduard.
