Rhapsis excelsa will not be dug out!
After a year in its spot..I thought it was looking droopy, getting too much sun with the taking down of the Ivy tree. A couple or three days ago I decided to move or put back in the pot. Well, with my best fiberglass handle premium spade or shovel..I couldn't get it to budge!..I heard roots snapping,I pried at it, I cut it from two angles..IT WOULD NOT LET GO!. I think it might have grown around a large Podocarpus root. I did notice that the soils were a bit dry, that might have been the cause of its wilt, not too much sun. So,after much sweat and no go..I stepped on it,threw more soil around it and soaked it. 48 hours later? It looks perky
This is one tuff palm. If it was a criminal it would be the enforcer..I couldn't force IT!
It stays under the Japanese privet for the duration. It won.
