Re: Mexican tree fern
This summer witness the most difficult temperature for any part across my country, in my province, it breaks the meteo record, enduring 50 35C+ days by yesterday, 14 40c+ included. The good news is the typhoon is coming soon and max.temperature hardly jump to 30c.
Here is the what looks after sitting through this harsh summer.

Hi George, they are well grown, and look healthy, you have enough place to put it, which will soon all be big!! Gr. Ed.

Re: Mexican tree fern
Hi George
Looking good. They will start to develop the more complex frond shape in the next couple of seasons. Around the time it starts to form a trunk and bigger root mass then it will develop larger mature fronds.

Re: Mexican tree fern
Here is a hard-to-reach fertile frond from the parent fern of George's propagated youngsters...
It's only taken about five years from sowing to produce this stocky 1-metre trunk...

Re: Mexican tree fern
No, I was wrong about the early 'Alsophila' ID - it is from a Mexican spore sample, but is clearly a rapid growing Sphaeropteris type after all. As was the aramaganensis. We're no nearer a reliable Cyathea ID than 'Mexican tree fern', I'm afraid!
