Yucca rostrata vs Yucca filamentosa x rostrata hybrid
here's a photo of Yucca rostrata (left) and Yucca filamentosa x rostrata (right). The hybrid seed was from Benny J. of Denmark back in 2009? Yucca filamentosa was the seed producing plant. This has to be one of the best hybrids in my garden. Great job Benny!

Re: Yucca rostrata vs Yucca filamentosa x rostrata hybrid
Hi Tim ! This hybrid is definitly one of my favorite. Do you think it could be a trunking form in the next growing years ? I do something similar by crossing Yucca flacida 'golden sword' (female) and Yucca rigida, the F1 seedling plants (5) are very young but are growing vigorously. The leafs seems to be turning in a blue powdery color and are starting to twig like on your hybrid. Did your plant had flowered ? ciao, fred.

Re: Yucca rostrata vs Yucca filamentosa x rostrata hybrid
Hi Fred,
no blooms on those Y. fila x rostrata hybrids. I have 4 different seed grown plants in my garden. I'm sure 1 will bloom next season.
Your Y. flaccida x rigida is an AWESOME hybrid. I've been buried at work with little free time lately. I need to germinate those seeds since it's almost July!
Hi Kev,
those Y. fila x rostrata hybrids have been outside for the past 2 winters. It's hard to know what low temperature they have seen since we get lots of snow and they may have been buried when the cold blasts occur. My guess is they saw -16C so far. I know they were buried in snow when our -19.2C occurred last winter.
if you look close you can see the top of the leaves under the southern magnolia tree.
here's the low temp of -2.9F (-19.2C)
Yucca elata buried in snow
Citrumelo buried in snow but protected

Lovely plant with obvious hybrid vigor. I wonder though how much it will trunk given the filamentosa influence. Regardless, a beauty.

Re: Yucca rostrata vs Yucca filamentosa x rostrata hybrid
Form #1 bloomed in 2014 and 2015 and is growing a trunk with no side shoots.
Forms #2 bloomed in 2015 and is starting a trunk with no side shoots yet.
Form #4 bloomed in 2014 and grow a lot of side shoots. It did start to trunk but it stopped as the side shoots were much more aggressive.
Form #3 has not bloomed yet.
Here's the trunk forming on form #2

Beautiful specimens Tim. Have you had seed from any of them? I'd be interested in purchasing a few to try over here if you have. Cheers.
