Aphelandra in full bloom and New Guinea Impatiens.
The Aphelandra I think, is about as an exotic looking plant that can be grown outdoors in the bay area as they come. This one from top of the pot is in the 24- 30" range.
The New Guinea Impatiens is a Super Sonic hybrid. I think from what I read on the internet it just may be hardy in the bay area as one soucal post on the SuperSonic's said he has had his for five years and its made a mounding 3' shrub. I might add more later. At $3 a plant not an expensive risk. And a nice look they would make around the Tree ferns.
