This is a diminutive but hardy 'Dutchman's Pipe'. I thought I had lost it, not through the cold, but through it being swamped by more vigorous neighbouring plants, but today I noticed it had hung on and actually climbed to the top of a Camellia, to show of its little red and yellow saxophone flowers. |

I must have had this plant for 4-5 years now. It seems perfectly hardy here and has gone from strength to strength, but never become a nuisance. This year, for the first time, I've noticed it has set a couple of fruits. I'm hoping they will contain viable seed as I'd quite like to propagate it, but have had no luck with cuttings of its wiry little stems. Pete |
