Jubaeopsis caffra
This is what it looks like after 6 years in the ground. It is about 1,60 mts tall.
I like the yellow colour of the petiole bases and rachises. In a way, it resembles to cocos nucifera.

Re: Jubaeopsis caffra
There is one I know of at least in the bay area. The owner of a palm tree nursery has it in his yard- saw it on the net. Its got more stem then trunk, but doesn't matter since as Julio says-its a colorful palm. Trunking plants might be decades old. Even then, its a not a tall palm as those in San Diego are more like old Needle palm height, not Bangalow..like that. Med palm like also.

Stan, I know it is very slow, but this one is growing quite well: 2,3 leaves a year. Pauleen O´Sullivan´s trio in CA is very famous and quite tall. They should be planted more often in places where Cocos can´t grow.
