weekend in Cornwall anyone?
On Sunday 5th June 2016 Tom Hudson will host the annual Plant Fair from 10am -3pm.This is an excellent well stocked affair at Tregrehan,Par http://tregrehan.org/category/garden/ -near both St Austell and the Eden Project. The garden there is also wonderful- a plantsman's treasure trove. On Saturday 4th from 10 am I am happy to lead a guided tour around Tremenheere http://www.tremenheere.co.uk-leaving time for lunch and/or retail opportunities at Lower Kenneggy &Trevenna Cross Nursery on the way to another guided tour at Bonython . http://www.bonythonmanor.co.ukSue Nathan has graciously offered to host a tour from 2.30pm with the seductive suggestion that there may be tea and cake for those who last the day. Normal admission prices will apply to each garden. This is a trial of the concept of a Plantsmans weekend in Cornwall under the auspices of the Great Gardens of Cornwall http://www.greatgardensofcornwall.co.uk which hopefully will develop further in future years

I have changed this to a 'sticky' topic so it does not drop down the chronological list.

Re: weekend in Cornwall anyone?
Breaking news--- Ned Lomax has taken over as head gardener (from Mark Brent)at Lamorran House ,St Mawes. He has offered to guide folk around on Friday 3rd June afternoon from 2pm .This is an exquisite Mediterranean style garden with many impressive palms in particular .It comes to over 4 acres with more formal features than is usual for Cornwall .One of the finest private gardens in the country. http://www.lamorrangardens.co.uk (If you wish to go earlier just PM Ned) The garden is handily placed for that high end bolthole Hotel Tresanton http://www.tresanton.com or the very comfortable Nare Hotel http://www.narehotel.co.uk/welcome. Not far away is the lovely Driftwood at Portscatho http://www.driftwoodhotel.co.uk The fine country pub Kings Head at Ruan Lanihorne http://www.kings-head-roseland.co.ukA must do stop is the churchyard at StJust in Roseland near the King Harry Ferry which takes you directly into Trelissick gardens and a host of other treasures. Whats not to like??

Hi Neil, Since last year was a real treat, I'll be returning to cornwall this year for the plant fair I'll be bringing Koen with me as well, and two other plantfriends from Belgium, both quite knowledgable! Would be nice to meet up again, I'll see if I can synchronise the program! Kind regards, Remko.

Re: weekend in Cornwall anyone?
No germination yet Neil, but unusually big and stangely shaped seeds I must say!
Kind regards, Remko.

Re: weekend in Cornwall anyone?
Transpires there is a wedding at Tremenheere on the day of our walk and talk together so the restaurant will be out of bounds for the garden folk ...I know... masterful planning as ever ... However for those who really need midday re-fuelling there are a number of alternatives -The Coldstreamer Inn at Gulval is nearest & Victoria Inn at Perranuthnoe is very good for leisurely pub food. Pasties are readily available however -Philps has an outlet in Marazion http://www.philpspasties.co.uk/our-shops/marazionMore soon

Re: weekend in Cornwall anyone?
Hi all! We are comming to the fair Neil, but we have two people a little less familiair with Cornwall and they really would like to see Heligan and Abbotsbury, in the limited time we have this year unfortunately So we won't be able to make it to Tremenheere I'm afraid We do however intend to return next year as well, so if the tradition still stands by then, we're in! Hope to see you at the fair! Cheers, Remko.
