Re: What's your plant of the moment?
There are many plants on my list of favorites right now, but the plant of the moment will probably be this one:
As it's something I was looking for quite a while and found it at a small local nursery.

I agree with others Chris that Geranium maderense is lovely! It could be one option for covering a garage rear that sits in my garden.
Also love Tom's Spanish Moss, another option for that rear garage.
Andrew; great looking Kniphofias; I keep trying them but they simply 'disappear'.
All are lovely Images Thanks very much!!
My Local Hospital.
My pride and Joy, two years old.
New this year.

Here is an Araliaceae I've been growing for few month : Oreopanax echinops, here is the bud 2 months ago :
It opened :
And now the leaves are almost mature :
Do some of you grow it ? I was told it was able to withstand frost down to minus 7°C (?).

Hi Pierre
No, I've nt grown that, although it looks lovely. I grow Aralia elata which I curse each time I have to go past with the mower..........those prickels hurt!
Nice plant Deane, I notice it was nearly 9pm when you took that photo, these bright late evening are great aren't they?

What's your plant of the moment?
This is my plant of the recent days, not the moment - a young Rhododendron yuefengense flowering for the first time. Once the single truss was fully opened, there were 11 blooms on the truss.

What's your plant of the moment?
Just finished admiring all the work Thuur put into his garden. He mentions Daphniphyllum macropodum, which is another of my favorites. It is called the "Redneck Rhododendron" over here because of its red petioles. The growth buds are another interesting feature, which I will photograph when present. Here is a current photo of my plant. It is approx. 6 feet tall.

Re: What's your plant of the moment?
Thanks Anne. I really need to update that thread as it looks almost nothing like the old photos anymore Your D. Macropdum looks great. These plants are so beautiful in my opinion. Here's that little plant I posted in my garden thread nowadays: I'm so fond of them: I've got two now, the one above is the smallest.

Thuur - thank you - yes Daphniphyllum macropodum is very special. This spring I ordered a second one - very small. The one in the photo was 12" tall when it arrived in May 2014 !! Supposedly they do not like windy locations, but wind is what it gets here. I am looking forward to the new small one to put on such impressive growth. Here is a photo of the newest arrival.
