Re: What's your plant of the moment?
For Bill and Stan's images it was saying something like 404 (!!!???) not found. However, it is now working!

That's perfectly grown Bill. I know local horts hold that plant as a choice thing of beauty..and touchy.

Mentha requienni. Not particularly exotic, but will grow almost anywhere and provides great ground cover. Seen here with Euphorbia myrsinites and various sedums etc. The plant is the smallest leaved mint, is used for the production of creme de menthe and is a favourite of bees and butterflies...that is the flowers, not the drink!

Re: What's your plant of the moment?
David, about thirty years ago I thought it would be fun to construct a small rockery in front of my greenhouse which at the time was packed with xerophytes. The plants have been left to their own devices and have since spread to an adjacent gravelled area. The soil was naturally heavy clay but I added lots of grit.
I'd be delighted to see you, will send you a PM.
Stan, thanks and yes, tapestry is an apt description.

Adrian, thanks, appreciated.
The truth is as one part of the garden looks better than in previous years others inevitably take a turn for the worse. I guess we all suffer in the same way. It's the given constant of gardening.

Not my plant. This is really more of a my best photo of the moment. I caught a flock of birds over a Bismarckia palm.
Same palm with the sun behind me.

Lovely Lobelia laxiflora
But not when it takes over your border
Apparently beloved by wasps that seem attracted to the capheads of the flower.

Re: What's your plant of the moment?
Yeah,I like that Andy. Lush. I have to plant very close together to get a version of "lush".
Anybody interested in "Brilliant Pink Iceberg" Rose?. Pretty big. I read people in Hawaii want to grow this. On the edge for them...

Re: What's your plant of the moment?
A truly stunning rose completely ruined by the junk underneath it. I cannot see the point of growing a rose to such perfection only to have the viewer's attention focus on the hideous mess holding it up. Surely they can come up with something a bit more architectural, imaginative and attractive to support that beauty???!!!
