The question is a bit too general for one answer. There are two ways to include an image in your post. 1. You can upload it to postimage.org, using the "Add image to post" function that is at the lower left hand corner of the box in which you post your message text. Then it will display as a thumbnail and people can click on it to open the image in a new window. 2. Or you can embed it in your post, but first you have to upload it to a photo hosting website such as Flickr. Then you use the syntax "img" in square brackets to precede the URL of your image and "/img" in square brackets to end it - to see how it's done, click "quote" on a post that contains embedded images and the syntax will display in the box for your reply. But the size of your embedded image or your image uploaded to postimage.org is determined by the size of the file on your local computer. The bigger the file, the bigger the image. If you over-compress your photos when you save them, they'll stay small, whatever you do. I generally upload my photos to Flickr at about 0.6MB to 1.5MB and then use the largest size that Flickr saves when I upload the image. Websites like Flickr can save your image in a variety of sizes and you just choose the URL for the size you want and embed that one. Use the "preview" function as you prepare your post to check that you have your preferred layout. |

The easiest and laziest way to post large photos is to do how I do. Get a photobucket account first. Under options chose the preferred size (I use 640 x 480). Whilst uploading, the software compresses the image to this selected size. Best results can be expected, when you use a special compression tool and do the compression process, before uploading. The photobucket comp. software is like so many others not very good and produces many artifacts, which are clusters of pixels in the photos. When you got them uploaded, click on the line right of "IMG" (pops up under the image, you point at with the mouse), which copies the code. Then paste the code in your GOTE post by pushing the keys "CTRL + V". Make sure IMG is selected under "Account settings". It's there where you can set the size of the images, too. See "View my upload options" for chosing a size. Switch in between the photobucket and GOTE windows by pushing ALT + TAB keys. Point-click-CTRL + V. That's it! |
