I just got back from the Kimberley district in WA; I have lots of photos of gorges with soaring walls of red rock and livistona palms, and of the beehive shapes of the Bungle Bungles with acacias and grevilleas flowering in the foreground. Unfortunately Picasa just doesn't want to play the game; it won't upload photos from my camera. At first I thought the cradle/recharger might have been damaged during the trip, but it is recharging the camera OK. So I don't know what the problem is: it's either the camera, the cradle or the computer. If I can't figure it out, I might be able to print hard copies then scan them back into the computer. |

Phil are your images taken in Jpeg or Raw format ? If you have used Raw format it could be that Picasa can't read that format or one of the pins that read your card is damaged can you conect with a USB lead ? cheers Stuart |

Thanks Stuart My images are JPEG. Will a USB lead do the same thing as the cradle? I'm wondering if there is some other way to get the photos into the computer; could the images be transferred from the memory card to a disc or something? |

It just came with a plug for an electricity socket, a length of cable containing two adapters, then the cradle for sitting the camera in, then a lead to the computer. I'm beginning to wonder if the pin in the computer port is the problem. I had to buy a different type of keyboard recently because the pin in the keyboard port (of the computer) was damaged. |

Philip, first make sure, you're able to transfer pictures from your camera to the pc. If this is possible, then picasa is the problem, since every image provider should accept JPEG pics. Pics can be transferred from the storage card to the pc by a card reader, built in or external. Most up to date computers have a number of built in card readers to enable you to read a variety of different card formats. Most common format is "SD" or its latest highspeed version "SDHC". I bet you have one of those. I'd try to elude the cradle, since these are the things were mostly problems arise. |

Thanks Steven and Stuart, Yes, I think I'll buy a card reader and see how that goes. |

Well, the card reader does nothing, so my last hope is getting a CD ROM burnt. If that doesn't work, I'll have to get a friend to e-mail me the photos. Obviously something is wrong with my computer. |

Phil the other problem could be that you images might be corrupted on you camera ! are you able to scroll through and see the images on your camera ? you might need recovery software in order to get them back . cheers Stuart |

No, the images in the camera are fine. Anyhow, a computer repairer has my computer now, so we'll soon know (this entry is from a cafe). |

OK apparently the photos were being uploaded successfully by both methods (cradle and card reader), but I didn't realize it because they were being uploaded to a different file than normal; also no images were flashing up on the screen as I'm used to; it was all happening silently, so I had assumed nothing was happening.
