Funnily enough this "summer" looks right like in the pic! Nope, longterm forecasts are impossible. Experience shows, that cold winters occur often before / after hot summers. Furthermore, it's very unlikely, that we should get a fourth cold winter in a row. That would be more seldom than once in 23 years, statistically. Statistics would suggest, we get a mild to normal winter, so exactly like the weather at the moment. (At least we don't have frosts at night, one becomes so modest these days) |

Phill that borders on the unbelieveable.I don't think any inhabited area of NZ (apart from wiauru which is an an army base on the central plateau) has got that low.Aren't you guys that side of the ditch supposed to be at least slightly sub tropical? I joke of course I am well aware that you or I are suseptible to extremes any time the wind blows from the south more than 2 days in a row. Maurice |

Maurice, I think it's the aftermath of strong cold fronts. When the wind dies down and the cloud disappears, the cold air left behind starts to pool. Canberra airport is on a tableland at 600 metres in a slight depression, so the cold air tends to collect there. |

Well most likely we get a normal or mild winter. After 2 cold ones in a row usely you get a milder one statistically. Alexander |
