Post Re: Sydney weather
A second front has come through with some truly amazing results- snow on the tablelands all the way from Goulburn up to the Queensland border. Towns receiving snow include Bowral, Bathurst, Armidale, Tenterfield and Stanthorpe ( Qld)
Katoomba apparently had 9cm, and on the Great Western Highway it fell down as low as Wentworth Falls and Bullaburra.

28.3c today - not bad for winter.
Better still, some welcome rain is forecast over the next two days.

It's back to winter as cold air is dragged up from way down in the Southern Ocean.
Yesterday and today topped out at 16c.

From one extreme to the other: 35c or 36c forecast for the next few days in the western suburbs.
Even Observatory Hill is forecast 35c on Sunday.

El Nino is supposed to be dry here, but we have had a very active thunderstorm season and plenty of rain.
Just as well, because a heatwave is coming: 33c tomorrow, then 31c then 39c by Friday.

Today (Friday) ended up the hottest November day since 1982 when it reached 40.9c at Observatory Hill.
There is a nice gusty southerly blowing outside now, though.

The coastal suburbs were hit by severe thunderstorms today with golfball-sized hail.
The suburb of Kurnell was hit by a probable tornado. A wind gust of 213 km/hr was recorded there.

The last three days have produced about 100 mm of rain, with some northern suburbs receiving 188 mm. Strange El Nino.
One day had a max of 18c, the coolest January day for 28 years.

A real stinker today: 39c at Observatory Hill.
Then a wild storm that left 80,000 homes without power, disrupted trains and killed one occupant in a car due to a fallen tree.
Finally, a strong, gusty southerly change send the temperature plummeting to 20c.
A bit of everything, but it was a repeat of what Melbourne had yesterday.

It's really tropical at the moment.
The last two days have been in the mid to high 30s, then this afternoon there was a heavy thunderstorm which dumped 20mm of rain in about an hour.

More intense storms over the last couple of days with extensive blackouts, high wind gusts, heavy rain and hail.
20mm in 10 minutes appears to be the heaviest outburst.

A real muggy February night. It's 9:30pm and still between 28c and 30c in all suburbs.
The low in the morning is going to be 24c on the coast and 22c-23c inland.

After 20 days without rain, we will finally get some showers on Tuesday.
We have had 39 consecutive days over 26c, an amazing period of above average temperatures. It should feel more like autumn by next weekend.

We had a record high for April today of 34.2c! Compare that with Melbourne's chilly 14c max. Amazing!
