Re: Yucca rostrata flower dilemma?
Update on mine. I took the flower spike off a month or so ago, on goes the wait for new growth to appear. I think I'll go with the Kev Spence school of thought next time! by , on Flickr by , on Flickr

Hi Phil again... keep a watchout for that Rostrata that rot does not set in. Luckily my Treculeana has new growth after flowering

Update on this one, finally signs of new growth. It appears that I'll be getting two heads.

Re: Yucca rostrata flower dilemma?
It does take it out of the plant letting it flower here are mine that I cut the flowers off same time last year just for comparison. There is obviously not a right or wrong way just that I prefer the symetrical look of the leaves.

Re: Yucca rostrata flower dilemma?
Keith they are actually Y.linerifolia, they are rock hard, they just sat there during winter 2010 (-11c) laughing wanting to go lower.....lol Y.rostrata might not take that temp so easily and I would expect most of the leaves would be heavily damaged should that same scenario came round again.
The plant behind the Yucca is a grass tree which is heavily protected but it too came through 2010

Re: Yucca rostrata flower dilemma?
Kev, many thanks, your linerifolia are superb. I've been lusting after a rostrata for some time but know I'd eventually lose it. I'll keep my eyes open for a nice linerifolia.

Hi phil.... that is amazing that you have three heads. You'll have to keep us updated on how the new heads fare.
