Stan, Neolitsea is confined to eastern Asia and Australia, so I'm not surprised you haven't heard of them. Litsea is found in both hemispheres. I first ran into the genus in Florida years ago when we saw Litsea aestivalis on a botanical field trip. Now I'm in the heart of their territory. Of the local Neolitsea, I like N. aciculata for its elegant foliage and beautiful purple-red flowers:
