Encephalartos poggei.......cold hardy???
Acquired this encephalartos from Josef and maybe I shocked him by telling that I wanted to plant it rightaway (sorry Josef)
Quite a big caudex it was with new roots and the emergent leaf bulge looked promising
So in it went on 14/11/ 2016
Another pic on the same day
Weather was fine with occasional rain and daily temp range 7/15 ºC 3 weeks later
4 weeks later
5 months later
Life is good here in the sunny Algarve

Cycads do things following trauma. Flush when good times return. Congrats Charles on one of the rarer cycads.
