Crete Lodge: Melissa & Keith on Gardeners' World
It's a bit late notice, but anyone who can access BBC2 should watch at 21.00 BST (one hour from now), as one of the finest private exotic gardens in England is going to be featured.

It was a lovely piece but still didn't really do the garden justice. Not even a glimpse of the lower pond area! Nevertheless it is brilliant to see Melissa and Keith starting to get some recognition on national TV.

You'll never get anything other than glimpses on GW. There is no desire from those in charge to truly inform or educate. A few nice shots and some pleasant waffle is all that is required.

We certainly enjoyed the days filming and were happy with the 6 minutes shown. I think Prim and Yula were definitely the stars. I hope that it will inspire others to try and grow "that won't grow outside" plants as Paul's garden inspired us.

Re: Crete Lodge: Melissa & Keith on Gardeners' World
A truly inspirational garden though I think it is a bit mean to attack GW which did at least feature the garden and has possibly thereby tempted some into the realms of exotic gardening. The remit of GW, I would imagine, is to bring gardening to the masses and not to focus on the very specialist fields which some of us, myself included, are obsessed with. The programme has a huge following but I think even fewer people would " get into it" if it became too high-brow. I have to admit that it was a feature last year where Monty Don was planting up a trough with alpines which inspired me to create my first alpine bed - and I am very pleased with the result. Of course it contains more "choice" plants than those shown on the programme but it was GW which sowed the seed for me. There is always the off button for those for whom the show is too basic.
