Post Quick garden tour
Inspired by the nice video Kev did (Thanks Kev, looks really nice!) I made a quick video of my little paradise in fall.
Winter is just kicking in, and most leaves have fallen or are falling.

Hope you like it! :)

Kind regards,
Remko.

Yes I do Remko - very much indeed! Finally get a glimpse of what you are getting up to and what a treasure trove. What are the walls made of - just normal bricks? Seem to be very porous. That pond window - magic touch.

Thanks Paul!

The bricks are called 'Tufa', a natural rock, available in blocks. I mainly use 2nd hand ones, as the new ones are very expensive!

I'll have to clean the pond, and it's window before spring, only then can one get a real good impression of what effect it has!

I feel bringing curved forms and shapes (like the path) into a garden, as well as elevation, really breaks up the lines and makes it look bigger and more exciting!

Kind regards,
Remko.

Hi Remko,
Thanks for posting on GOTE, a very lush garden, loving all your ferns growing in the crevices of the walls do you have any colour through the year.
I tend not to bother to much with colour but Jackie tends to slip flowers in from time to time green would probably be enough for me.

Very well filmed and loving the garden. You have achieved a very naturalistic feel in your garden, it's like a walk in nature and so very peaceful. I agree the use of height makes it very interesting and paths make it a journey through the garden. Some great ideas there to try. Just started the planning of my garden so nothing to post yet other than seedlings and bare borders.

Thanks for posting

Like Tim I'm just starting out on a new garden. It's just great to see what can be done.

Thank you for the inspiration and ideas, I just loved the window on the garden pond, such good idea but it must have been an engineering nightmare to install.

Being a ferny I was also drawn to the ferns growing in/on the Tufa walls. I recognised most but the 'bits from China' were a definite thing to lust after, what are they?

Thank you

David

Thanks all!

@ David: Polypodiodes amoena, Phymatopteris ebenipes, Lepisorus macrospaerus forma macrosphaerus
, Selliguea griffithiana, Lepisorus bicolor, Selliguea engleri (or Crypsinus rhynchophylla, not clear),
Pteris actiniopteroides, Adiantum davidii and Pteris dactylina are some of the ferns I've found over there.
Furthermore some Adiantum and especially Cyrtomium are self-sowing on the moss wall.

The pondwindow, I had some help, but there are some more people in the Netherlands who have this, but all those people have plant-less ponds with koi in it,...bleh!

Kind regards,
Remko.

Hi Remko.

Thanks for that list of ferns. I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in what they are!

I have 18 month old sporelings of Selliquea hastata on the go from spores from AFS - which are to be planted out on a fern rockery I intend to build in a wooded bit of my new garden.

I'll keep a lookout for the others in the future- as spores or nursery plants.
