OT: Picture editing software
At the moment I'm using Picasa for my pics, but I just really don't like it.
What picture editing software you all use?
I take it I'd have to pay for something thats half decent rather than be able to download one for free. (I'm cheap you see )
It's only for general use though, so doesn't need to be all singing, all dancing.

The best free photo editing software on the market according to many people is GIMP, an open source programme:
You can get it here:

Yesterday I bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, for Aus $129 (=UK £56).
It is significantly better than Elements 4, although it would be nice if the way to do some things were a little more direct. I like its charcoal background, like this board. The sharpening algorithm seems a lot better than V4 and earlier, which was poor.
Possibilities for fancy text effects, and buttonising and framing images are much expanded and improved on V4.
I may well still use the freebie Hewlett Packard "PhotoSmart Premier" that came with my previous digital camera, for re-sizing and re-touching photos for web posting, because its simple and quick compared to PhotoShop Elements.
At the same time I also bought Serif PhotoPlus 11 (Aus $155 = £67.40) although I haven't got round to installing it yet.
Peter.
