Re: Mexican tree fern
Looks good George. I'd say there is a high probability that new frond is from a tree fern - unless your spore was contaminated with other fern species.

Re: Mexican tree fern
Few weeks later, I have digged out some stronger individual to be planted in the new pot. I do believe they are tree fern instead of mass fern, have you see the root coming out of the surface? That's a typical tree fern root, isn't it? They seems grow much faster than the ones stay in the old crowd.
Temperature is very hot now, today is the summer solstice, this week it has a record 36.2C, but not the hot sumit of the year, the heat wave is just coming shortly.
Anyone in this forum can compete typical east Asian summer?

Hey George, that looks good, as they are accustomed to that temperature it does not really matter Gr. Ed.

need fertiliser?
Come to this week of the fern, the hot temperature suppresses the growing in a considerable power. The frond looks pales and dry although in a almost 100% humidity, too hot possiblely. Or it needs fertiliser? Any suggestion on that?
the below is the C.lepifera propagated almost the same time, the humidity is around 60%~80%, but it looks more healthy although in a slow rate compared to mexicana.

Re: Mexican tree fern
I'm no expert George, but I do live in a similar climate as you. I have found that all my TF sporlings slow down in the peak of summer. They usually recover in October when temperatures cool down. Yours all look very nice BTW.

Re: Mexican tree fern
The nursery box covered with a wet towel, it can dramastically drops by 8C, maintaing at 25~30C. And the fern babies take refuge inside, otherwise they have all reincarnation.
This is what the 6 sporelings progress:
